Time for Change
Those who follow me on Instagram and Facebook may have noticed my blogging has fallen off the radar, and my focus on social media has changed a lot. My last post on here was about my goals for 2016, and one of them was to conquer ten new hikes this year…I think it’s safe to say I accomplished that! With the changes I made to my life and social media focus I think this blog finally needs a bit of an update! Originally it started as a way for me to chronicle outfits and makeup, but I quickly became burnt out trying to keep up a façade of a person.
When it comes down to it, I am not a fan of excessive consumerism. I enjoy cute clothing, I enjoy makeup, but I am extremely frugal. I am not out shopping all the time, and I have owned a lot of the same clothes *gasp* throughout multiple years. Trying to be a part of the makeup and fashion blogging communities made me feel like I needed to constantly be spending money, which wasn’t making me happy. Honestly, I think this is mainly my own fault. There are a lot of bloggers out there who don’t let that pressure get to them and are able to remain true to themselves. I just wasn’t able to do that.
So I took a step back. I called a hiatus on blogging. I cancelled all of my reoccurring monthly makeup and clothing subscriptions. I also let my inner lazy girl out and quit spending hours in the mornings styling my hair and doing elaborate makeup looks. During this time I tried to focus on what it was about blogging and life in general that made me happy and inspired me to share in the first place.
I actually figured it out pretty quickly! Photography and exploring have always been the main things that inspire me. When I got my first DSLR in a box kit from Costco I was always harassing my close friends to go on photo adventures with me. We would dress up and take some seriously moody black and white hipster nonsense photos in a forest somewhere. I still love all of them, but my shooting and editing skills were pretty bogus at the time, also our outfits made NO sense in the surrounding wilderness.

It became pretty obvious to me that I could still enjoy photography and exploring without pressuring myself to become a perfect fashion/makeup blogger.

Maybe now you will catch me out in the wilderness instead of Sephora, or hell maybe both! I am not a one dimensional person and this blog won't be either!
Why face the camera when you can face the mountains?
I am still not exactly sure what I will be posting here, but I am excited to experiment and find out! If you came for the makeup, you might find yourself disappointed since I don't face the camera much anymore ;)
